Building construction

Merrimack Valley Life

Dozens of signatures adorned the 3,000-pound beam that was being moved from a gathering of hard-hatted VIPs, guests and those who contributed to the construction of Salem’s new landmark to the top of Tuscan Village’s Artisan Hotel. The Dec. 3 topping-off ceremony marked a significant milestone in the construction of a nearly 300,000-square-foot development project. It celebrated the safe completion of the building’s framing. A white beam with well wishes, accessorized by a small evergreen tree, was bolted in place where it remains as a reminder of the effort that went into the development of the property.

The Artisan Hotel is a Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel that will be fully serviced by Tuscan Kitchen. It will be five stories with plans to include a 165- room Marriott soft-brand hotel, 91 luxury apartments with private underground parking, 30,000 square feet of ground-level retail space, a 12,000-square-foot event and function facility, 10,000-square-foot Tuscan Brands restaurant with extensive outdoor dining, a rooftop restaurant, pool and sundeck.

Joe Faro, founder of Tuscan Brands, said, “I’m just so excited watching this come together. We’ve been working on this for three years so far and it’s scheduled to open the end of 2023. There is nothing else of this caliber in the region. It’s very exciting to contribute a downtown area to Salem, a place where people can gather with friends, eat, shop and enjoy community activities.”

Tuscan Village in southern New Hampshire has just opened its first ever holiday market.

Holiday Shoppes at Tuscan Village, located across the Massachusetts border in Salem, opened over the weekend. It includes 30 small businesses and artists in an open-air market, with art, holiday treats, home decor, clothing and more.

There’s also a heated tent with a holiday food and cocktail menu, including adult hot chocolate. And there’s even a social media corner sponsored by Sam Adams.

Starting Nov. 25, there will also be a Christmas tree sale hosted by The Exchange Club of Salem, which supports numerous local organizations.

A tree lighting ceremony will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, with live music, face painting and wine sampling starting at 12 p.m. Kids can visit Santa from 4 to 6 p.m., and the tree will be lit at 6 p.m., complete with carolers and dancers.
